Our living room on Harper Avenue

Well, we finally have some pictures of our new home to share. Ryan is really enjoying his new camera, so I convinced him to take a few pics of our house instead of standing on the side of the road taking pictures for car commercials. At least you can get a general idea of what our place looks like.

This is a picture of the other half of our living room. I spent two days painting it a soft yellow. The high ceilings were not much fun at all to paint. I was cursing myself after I started, but very glad I did it once I was finished. The great thing is that we have lots of open space. We use the “other half” as our dance floor. Ryan is thinking we need a disco ball.

After painting our living room, the dining room was looking so drab I decided I needed to paint it too. I used a light green in this room. It almost looks like the color of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Our kitchen needs some serious help, but I wasn’t about to tackle this room. I put an area rug in here because the floor is awful for sucking up dirt.

For those of you who haven’t seen us in awhile, here we are waiting for our friends Ryan and Melissa to arrive.

self portrait with the D70

A Self Portrait on Flagler Beach, FL

For a long, long time now I have wanted to delve deeply into the word of photography. I’ve gotten some good shots here and there with the Olympus C-4040 and have been very pleased with its functionality and quality. It served us very well in Costa Rica. In the days since we returned, I have lusted after a real camera. A digital SLR. A digital camera that took a picture as soon as I pushed the button. A digital camera that I can change the lenses on. I’ve spent the past year debating and reading reviews on the DSLRs that are available and late last year I decided to take the plunge. Like any self-respecting husband would do ::wink-wink:: I saved my money and today. Oh, today. I got my new Nikon D70. It is indeed all that it’s cracked up to be.

I took the picture above with it. I know it’s not the best but, hey, I just got the thing today. I am one happy boy.

P.S. I also took this one today but you know who is going to be VERY mad if she sees that I put this up here.
